Hey y'all

Just wanted to say hi to the good folks here and fellow newbies I did HPDE 1/2 this weekend and had a blast. Awesome instructors (mine was Rod Holt) and organization. Can't wait for the next event! I'll be in the grey (not silver! that's nnnick) A4 putt-putting around the track.

YeeeeHaw!

Will we be seeing you at AMP in 2 weeks?

Marissa and I were headed back into town on I-10 Sunday afternoon and passed FIR. She got excited just seeing the cars on track from the highway. We need to find her a G37 - stat!

Not sure...I'm in serious need of new suspension before another event. Mine's completely shot. But I did get to eff up those Hankooks this weekend. They're so freaking awesome.

There was a G37S sedan in DE2 - I cannot believe how quick & competent that car was, and I'm pretty sure it was bone stock. I was expecting to be much faster than it, and I couldn't keep up! I'm very impressed with those cars...

Yup - we've been testing a few of them, definitely gotta get the S model. Stock tires are junk 225's, but we drove a nismo 370Z with some yoko advan sports, thing stuck nicely in the corners. Her plan is a G37S, then new wheels/tires, then springs/shocks, then maybe brakes but the stock brakes are pretty decent, might only need pads/fluid for the short DE sessions.

Hey, that was me...or, uh, my car. I didn't get to meet the Audi group...just the EVO guys and 3 series guys. Oh and the Jeep SRT, that thing is crazy fast.

My G is currently bone stock except for the missing TPMS. (I found OE rims and OE tires from eBay for the track). However, I keep hitting limp mode from high oil temp at the track, so a cooler is in my future.

And speaking of suspension mods, I've been researching the KW Variant 3. They are expensive but support ride height adjustment, compression damping, and rebound damping. But before I do that, I think a camber kit is in order.

elf_cruiser, you're right the bridgestone potenza re050a's are not the tire you want on the street. They are not good in cold weather (even AZ cold) and very slick in wet conditions. Now on a dry track, at temperature, they are very predictable and i had no problem keeping up with the black 330i with Nitto NT01's in all corners but turn 4.

Anyway you may want to consider the Continental ExtremeContact DW. They are almost as good on the track, but significantly better on the street...and they are quieter with a better ride.

Honestly i'd go max out the stock suspension a bit first in DE3 before making any suspension changes!

I currently use the V3's and love em

Can you explain what you mean by "max out the stock suspension?"

I don't want to hijack starrkittens thread, but since she's talking about upgrades I'm wondering what she's doing and why. Here is my list and why. I probably won't do all of them at least not anytime soon.

What I think I need in order of importance:
Oil Cooler - to fix overheating problem (limits revs to 6K) i'm seeing half way through the session - this mod is in process
Front Camber Arms - Should fix tire heat not even across surface and excessive outside wear.
Track Tires - NT-01's or such - more stick is always good
Coilovers - adjustable for track vs street
Rear Camber Arms - May pick up with front, but won't really need them unless the car is lowered - rear tires have even wear and temps.
sway bars - if needed once suspension is dialed in - some people do this before adjustable coilovers because it's cheap.

I'm not sure I'll have the cooler in before AMP so I may not go. Apr 2 is the day before the free Infiniti day at FIR W, so i'll have to think about it.

Thanks all,
-rod
