Race Group Pro Payout
As previously announced in drivers meetings and emails, we will be implementing a "Pro Payout" for Race Group in 2011.
I believe the primary reason folks enjoy race group is so they can "RACE" against other cars. While racing happens at all different levels and classes to some degree, it makes a lot more sense to race against cars in the same class. With that being said, the goal of this program is simple, to increase car counts within class! So the concept is simple. Meet the minimum numbers below for your respective class and *ALL* class participants are put into a random drawing for some cash prizes! It doesn't matter if you're 1st or last, everyone has an equal chance of winning. The nice thing about this contingency is it encourages racers to come out and join the fun, even if they know they're not a consistent top finisher. PT/ST/SU
944 Spec
Spec Miata
Honda Challenge
NOTE: /\ Must be unique cars (not drivers). Example, 10 drivers sharing 5 cars during an enduro in ST2 would not be eligible for payout. Now in order for you guys/gals to take advantage of this program, go wake up all those racers that used to run with us but have been in hibernation! Obviously seeking out racers from other organizations works as well but I firmly believe these numbers can easily be achieved if we simply get all the existing NASA racers to simply show up for the same event. ![]() P.S. Some restrictions apply. In other words all classing goes through Paul Bloomberg and he may deny you purposely upclassing your car if he thinks there's funny business going on. Nice Tage!
BTW... do you mean "entrants" or "starters". Are these per race or per weekend?

EDIT: For clarification, if they "start" they need to "finish" unless they have a legitimate mechanical failure. I don't want people simply taking the "start" simply to pump up the numbers. I won't count that person if I think that is what's going on. The point of the program is to get more actual racers, not those fake ones! We'll do 1 drawing per race weekend (or day if a single race day event). Last edited by Tage; 01-04-2011 at 04:20 PM. |

Oh crap! I totally forgot about this. I posted some updates for the 2012 season but we had a forum failure and lost all that data (the last restore available was March 2011!!!). I made a few adjustments to the in-class numbers and also made it so that the program could only be funded by "paying entries" (not comp'd entries). From what I recall off the top of my head though I might have made the program too difficult because I don't think there was enough folks in any of the classes to every pay out. Then to top it off there was additional complexities of introducing GTS and a host of other NASA Racing Series/Classes.
I will collect data for the rest of this year and then present something obtainable and sustainable for the 2013 season. Thanks for the reminder Tony! |

This was perceived as really successful in 2011. There were multiple times that we paid out $600 in one class ($300, $200 & $100), specifically in ST2. The problem was it didn't accomplish the original goal of increasing the number of racers, it just got folks to shift around in their classes to get the payout.
In 2012 I spent a lot of time figuring out the right formula that was acheivable to get the payout but was also self funding. I made the mistake of only posting the info to the forum and then we lost all that data! Off the top of my head the raw number in each class that was a paid entry were fairly low again in 2012. I suspect this could change in 2013 (due to scheduling & local track challenges, NASA Nationals on the West coast again, etc.). Without any sample numbers it's tough to commit this early on for 2013 until we see more data. |
