Kumho V710 or Hoosier R6?

I need a new set of tires, but it looks like I'm not going to be able to upgrade my wheels for a while. So, that leaves me with an 18x8.5 wheel, which leaves my tire choice at a 245/40/18.

Soooooo, Kumho V710 or Hoosier R6? Kumhos are about $200 cheaper for the set...

All opinions are welcome.

If you can't swing the Hoosiers I prefer the NT01s to the khumos...

When I was searching for r comps last year, I didn't see much about the v710 on the evo forums. It was mostly the Hoosier R6s or the BFG R1s being the favorites for road racing. And definitely don't get the v700, just based on my forums searching. Also, the R1s run wider than the R6s in case you get them. My stack of 4 BFG R1 265/35/18s are around 1-2 inches taller than my stack of 4 275/35/18 R6s. But I haven't used either tire yet, just got them because they were a good deal. But the NT01 is better than the R888 in my opinion from what it felt like on track.

+1 on Jim's suggestion

R6 or Nitto NT01

The Kumho 710 is a very soft tread compound and is very quick for a few laps - a great Ax tire.
The Hoosier R6 will get you 20 heat cycles and is a good Time Trial tire.
The Nitto however is a very good DE tire with more durability.

You might want to PM Brady on this tire question - Mr. Experience

Nitto NT01 is the best bang for the buck as far as longevity goes. A Hoosier R6 should be faster but will not last nearly as long. The Kumho 710 will be faster than either tire but will not last very long is the downside.

Nittos are the best tire for the value. I ran within .7 with the Nittos as compared to Yokohama race slicks at PIR.

BFG's are not very forgiving and were the slowest of all the tires.
The Kumho's are very quick at first, but go off rapidly.

Hoosier's seem to also go out very quick, but only give you a few heat cycles as compared to the Nittos and BFG's.

Everyone has a different experience on different tires. Check into the contingency money to help you make a decision. They are all good tires, but your budget may help you make the decision.

I have a contact for Nittos that can get them for you at a great price.
Call Chet Mann at SRD in Tempe, 480-317-0090. He can get them for you at a great price. Better then Discount Tire.

Lots of suggestions without asking what he's using the tires for.

HPDE? TT? TA?
Will these be street + track tires or or dedicated track tires
