May 2nd & 3rd Event Registration now open - PIR

Registration is closed!

HPDE1 - Sat & Sun Sold out!
HPDE2 - Sat Sold out! Sunday should have a little room
HPDE3 - Lots of room if anyone wants to sign up onsite either day
HPDE4 - About 7 spots open on Saturday. Lots of room on Sunday
Time Attack - The more the merrier!
Time Trial - Some room still left
Race Group - Lots of room left

LOTS of information to relay about this event so read closely:

National Anthem
We all need to be thankful that we live in a free country to allow us to do what we all love. I find it incredible that our troops are at war risking their lives for our feedom and ability to hang out at the race track and have a good time. As such, we will play the National Anthem before "the Race" each day. I ask that during this time everyone show the respect by providing a moment of complete silence and attention put on the American flag.

T-Shirts
I bought WAY too many T-Shirts for the night event. As such, anyone who ran the night event but didn't get a shirt, just let us know and we'll take care of you in registration. The rest we'll sell at $5 each. Smoking deal!

Incidents
Going forward, ALL cars must fill out an incident report if any damage to the track facility or your car (even a single car incident) regardless of how minor or even if the driver(s) don't think it's a big deal. You will not be allowed back on track until you do this. You can get the forms at registration and return them back there. This applies to Race Group as well. Details will be provided in the Race Group meeting.

Passengers
The only groups that will allow for passengers going forward will be HPDE3, HPDE4 and TT. In addition, all of these groups require permission from the group leader. A "Passenger" card (similar to a download card) will be issued to you to let Pre-Grid know it has been pre-approved.

Saturday Social - BBQ
Yes, this is going to happen and it will become a regular thing (with exception of 1 day events). My hope is to make the "Saturday Social" just as much fun as the driving. Heck, it might even bring us all a little closer together off the track as well as on the track. Double yellow flags will be waving full time while you stand in the food line though! Make sure you bring a chair and be friendly with your track peers. If you're lucky, maybe you'll meet some famous "Who's who" superstars!

HPDE1 & 2
These two groups will be combined for this event. Also keep in mind that "HPDE2" is a *new* group for this event. HPDE2 is the same as HPDE1, it simply just does not require an instructor.

The most common asked question from a new person is what time should they get there. The answer is, get there early enough to allow yourself time to get into the track (sometimes the waiver you need to sign at the gate can take several minutes), paddock, register, go through tech and not be late for the drivers meeting. If you're trailering your car or need to change brake pads and/or wheels and tires you will want to get their as early as possible which is 6AM. If you're driving a street car and you don't need to change tires or unload much from your car, you can probably get away with showing up about 60 minutes prior to the drivers meeting. For this particular event and most going forward, the drivers meeting will start at 7:40AM so make sure you get there by about 6:40AM.
NOTE: On a 2 day event, Saturday is always more busy from a waiver gate, registration and tech perspective so plan accordingly. About 1 hour prior to the drivers meeting is a rule of thumb but no guarantee you'll get everything you need done in that amout of time.

HPDE 3
Drivers who historically ran in HPDE2 before this event will run here now. As a result of this "intermediate" level HPDE group not needing to host true "intermediate" level drivers as well as freshly graduated HPDE1 students, the rules will start to be more relaxed in this group and will start to allow passing in some very specific corners that weren't previously allowed before.

HPDE 4
Drivers who historically ran in HPDE3 before this event will run here now. As a result of now having 4 distinct groups, this group can truely become an "Advanced" group and will eventually reduce/eliminate any restrictions on passing right off the bat. The group leader will always define the exact protocol in the morning though.

HPDE Progression
If you are looking to move up into the next higher HPDE group, make sure you talk to your group leader BEFORE the end of the day. They are the only Officials with the authority to make this call.

Time Attack
This is now open to all Intermediate (HPDE3) and Advanced (HPDE4) level drivers or above. Previously it was only open to the advanced level HPDE group and above. See registration if you want to sign up for the Time Attack (this is a change as well as previously it used to be Tech that would coordinate this).

Time Trial
If you need to register onsite or rent a transponder or make a change to your entry, you'll need to see registration. If everything is okay, you don't need to check in with them anymore. Going forward your credentials will be handed out in the morning break out session. This should significantly reduce the registration lines for all. One thing to take note of is if you miss the drivers meeting and the morning break out session, you won't get your credentials and you will miss the 1st session. Your next opportunity to get them will be at the subsequent download session. As the schedule has always said, "Failure to attend the drivers meeting will result in loss of track time!". On another note, if you want to take a passenger out in a session and receive a "Passenger" card, that session will not be counted towards points or track records.

Race Group
There will be a make up race at the end of Saturday for the rained out race on Saturday April 11th. After much offline discussion and reviewing of the CCRs it was found that the race did have a successful "Start" which is good enough for 1 (out of 5) needed to qualify for Nationals. However, since at least half of the race had not completed yet, it cannot count as an official race. The CCRs also indicate that the race can be "rescheduled" so on Saturday May 2nd, we will have a "make up race" for those that took the green flag but were then rained out after only a couple short laps. The qualifying order of the make up race will resume with racers in their respective position when the race was red flagged (i.e. What MYLAPS showed).

If you need to register onsite or rent a transponder or make a change to your entry, you'll need to see registration. If everything is okay, you don't need to check in with them anymore. Going forward your credentials will be handed out in the morning break out session. This should significantly reduce the registration lines for all.

The make up race is obviously for Aprils registered racers that actually started the race. Right?

NASA AZ is looking for track workers. Please contact me if interested. Good way to get involved before driving if you are "prepping" a car.

2 things Tage: I never did get my T-shirt at FIR reg. The second thing is, feel free to open up that simple track registration processes for DE4 too. It would save us all a lot of needed time in the morning.

Tage --

Yeah, now that you mention it, I never received my 'special' event T-shirt that I was promised (email from Adina for one of the first 50 registrations) either. My fault for forgetting to ask during registration, but it you've got extras ...

Cheers,
Jeff

Having a DE4 again sounds great Tage. That will help a lot. With that are we to assume TA is open to DE3-4 & TT? With the added group is it safe to say all sessions will be 20mins?

What do they look like? Anybody got an image they can post?

Maybe they're uber-desirable...
