'66 Malibu
The Malibu is my second car( first was a '63 Buick Skylark, Alum.215/200 hp, T-10 trans. Wish I still had it!) that I drove in college; 275hp/327 glide 4 door hardtop. Did wheels, Posi , heads, headers, cam, manifold , A-1Automatics trans and converter, 12-bolt, and raced it as a SS/MA NHRA Super Stocker. Sold that engine and rebuilt the stock one and raced it in M/SA Stock class all while driving it on the weekends, or whenever else. Later, got an old Bill Jenkins ProStock 331. Ungodly RPM! Found a manifold with a 400 shot fogger system hidden underneath which made it a great sleeper(cheater!), especially with a hidden 5# bottle which let me disconnect the 20# for street races for those who noticed. Stock style suspension with hard bushings and tubular arms and lift bars. Then went with B-body spindles, disc brakes all around,Trans -Am front sway bar, 750# front springs and 7/8" rear bar and 2.76 rear gears. Not nearly as quick, but hardly anything could keep up from a 40 mph roll( mind you, this was in the '80's). Moved to Phoenix, went back to drag racing with a 12 point cage, back half with ladder bars, tubbed, 9" Ford rear housing and stock front end, and a 2 door body. Sold the good engine and it's been collecting dust for 10 years or so. Want to get it going and figured a track configuration will be the best way to have the most fun with the car. It was never a collectible, so I don't mind beating on it. Want to do a 3-link/Watts rear and pretty much what I had in the front earlier( still have all the parts), and an LSX engine. The car will probably weigh around 2700# with all steel body. Thanks for asking.

Going to get on track
Signed up for the August night event in HPDE1. Hopefully I'll get Friday and Saturday off so I can be rested up. Will be driving the S-10. After hanging out with Jared in Grid at the last night event, I can't wait to get on track.

I look foreword to seeing the truck out there. I have driven one of those before and it was a blast. Tons of torque to the unweighted back wheels! The brakes were undersized but it looks like you took care of that.

Thanks. I just converted the brakes to Gen IV Camaro in front( and the booster went out 3 days later. Changing that today.) Pretty much stops on a dime, with change, lol. The long wheelbase and extended cab weight help the handling a lot. See ya.

Almost ready for DE1 next week!
Almost done with maintainance on the truck for next week's DE1. New radiator, battery, tuneup, all synthetic fluids, new brakes, bushings and track alignment. Changing jobs so I have a week off and I'll have time to put in the posi and new axle. I am so looking forward to this event. Mucho thanks to Grid Marshall Jared for helping install the bushings.
