Tage's TTS / ST2 Civic

I think Kent's thread about his new Boxster he's building was fun and informative for many so I thought I'd share my car stats. No one has ever come up to me and officially protested my car but I have heard of rumors of grumbling on the legality of my car so I figured I'd at least share the numbers that I claim.

First off the car is a 1995 Honda Civic CX which is a FWD car and weighs ~2200# from the factory. It is very light from the factory but all the misc stuff doesn't weight as much as you would guess. Plus, when you add in a 180# driver, 100-150# worth of cage and a motor/transmission/supercharger that weighs about 125# more than the original plus misc safety gear like a fire suppression system, etc. all that weight piles on just as fast as it came off. I claim 2290# but I am typically at 2300# or above in full race trim.

UPDATE: Since adding my front wing and adding to my cage I'm likely closer to 2325-2350 but I haven't updated my classing sheet (since it's heavier than claimed on my form).

I run 275mm wide tires in the front and 225mm in the rear. The rules only care about the wides tire used (even if only on one end) so I have to use the "275" number. While that's HUGE on a "Honda Civic", it's actually considered "small" in the TTS world and I am allowed to run more power since I'm on "skinny" tires.

For power I run an internally stock K24A2 engine out of an Acura TSX. The only modifications are a baffled oil pan, some breather vents in the valve cover and a Jackson Racing Supercharger kit. There are hundreds (if not more?) of these kits out there and the power mine produces is right in line with what you would expect. 295WHP is what I claim but the most it's ever made on a Dynojet is 290WHP.

So here's how the numbers work out for classing of my car using this form --> http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/t...cation-sur.pdf

2290# / 295WHP = 7.76
FWD = +1.0
275mm tires = +0.4
2290# = -0.45

Final Adjusted Power to Weight = 8.71 = TTS / ST2

I think these kinds of threads are pretty cool, and informative for newcomers (like myself) who might be interested in which cars are in each class and how they are prepared to fit into the class.

Wow thats a lot of power for a Civic. I'm suprised your not going through axles and transmissions like crazy. Now to figure out how to take 1100 lbs out of my Z.

Keep in mind the car is light enough that the tires will break loose before breaking things. I used to go through axle CV joints like crazy when hitting bumps and turning while under power. I have since switched to actual "Honda brand" OEM axles and haven't had a problem since (2+ years???). Honda transmissions don't seem to break until you get to about the 600WHP mark.

I don't understand the purpose of the wheelie bars on a FWD car.

Then there's this one:

Clarification: Fastest time attack/trial car yo!

My car is slow when it comes to drag racing.

P.S. They're not wheelie bars, they're "traction bars" on a FWD car. The premise is simple. The longer the wheelbase, the less dramatic the weight transfer is during a launch. They're essentially making it a VERY long wheel base FWD car without adding much weight.

I was thinking it must be something like that.

I wonder whether that CRX had a scattershield.
