Bought this SHOEI, QWEST in matte black size Large just before the last B-West event (Impulse buy). Wore it for one BWEST day and 3 days at Inde. Paid $413 new at 6pm on April 12 just before BWesT.
Would be delighted to get $300 so I can move to an "SA2010" helmet.

M2010 spec is perfect for DE.
Nary a scratch on it, I shower twice daily, never sneezed in it, can't even pick my noze with it on, no Scabies, Rabies, Aidseys, or earwax. Literally brand new.

Very comfortable, good looking and now I want to have an SA2010 spec helmet for future advancement possibility.

My first attempt at editing video, what a pain in the ass!! My top mph of the event was 167, but I inadvertently doubled my rear wing aoa and lost 10-12 mph lol. The track is super intense and unbelievably fun! I left an enormous amount of time out there just learning, So hope to get back there next year!

Tire choice dilemmas....

Hi everyone..
My front tires are down to the wear bars and I'm in need of tires.

I have a factory 16x7 wheel and run a Kuhmo XS tire in a 215/45/16 .
and my tire choices seem really slim. I can either run another Kuhmo 215/45/16 or try and run a 225/45/16 and have more brand choices.

Would a 225/45/16 on a 7inch rim be track friendly? Safe?:?:
I believe 7in width is the minimum for a 225.

F150 Spark Plug Replacement

I have a '06 F150. Need to do the plugs. I've heard there is a special tool required, along with an extractor (because the 2 piece plugs are prone to break).

Ford dealers want $400 or so to do it.

I could do it myself, but after purchasing above mentioned tools, I'll be $400 in to it.

Anyone have any suggestions? (Besides 'Buy a Chevy, Toyota, Etc.')

Just got back from Global Time Attack Road Atlanta. We took Travis' WRX and took 3rd place Unlimited AWD. Over the weekend Travis took out 3rd and 4th gear and then went 3 seconds faster. He also destroyed another splitter. :yelrotflmao:

I don't know jack about turtles but I *acquired* what was thought to be a desert tortoise which I thought my kids would get a kick out of and would be pretty cool to have roaming around my backyard and taking care of my landscaping. :-)

It turns out it is a water turtle of some sort which I don't have interest in since I wasn't planning on making a big pond and I don't want to buy a big aquarim for the house.

I'm going to call a shelter in the morning but figured I'd throw it out there if there's a NASA member looking for one of these as I think they're pretty expensive if you buy them in a pet store this size.

Transmission Warranty Advice?

So I made the mistake of getting my Sprinter Van transmission "rebuilt" at Euro Car center on Cave Creek Rd in Phoenix. I chose the shop because they claimed to be a "Sprinter Specialist" and Warranty thier work. So less than 1000 miles later the transmission failed in LA on a cargo run. They towed it back to their shop and they "fixed" the problem. I took it to Yuma yesterday and the transmission failed again less than 400 miles later after they "fixed" it the second time. I'm very apprehensive to take it back there now but am out $2500 for the "overhaul" even though it still under warranty there. The Van is stuck in Quartzsite and I do not feel I should pay for the tow back to Phoenix. Any advice from guys that have shops or customers that have had similar problems would be appreciated. Keep in mind it's a Mercedes automatic transmission.:confused:

What's going on everyone. I'm new to NASA AZ and new to this forum. I've been on EvoM for a while now as well as AZAWD. First and foremost I am a car fanatic like the rest of you. I daily drive a 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe thats slammed on KSport Kontrol Pro Coilovers and sits on AME TM-02's 19x9.5 +22 up front and 19x10.5 +22 in the rear. My other car is a 2006 Mitsubishi Evo IX SE that I'm in the process of making my track car to race at the local NASA AZ track day events. I look forward to meeting and getting to know as many of you as I can. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. Take it easy everyone :thumbup:

Looking for North Valley landscaper

I need to repair/replace a drip system on my rental house (as well as my own house). It's probably more work than I'm willing to do myself so I'd rather just hire someone to do it. I know there's a pretty big variance in what landscapers charge though so I was looking for a referral for a landscaper that does irrigation work for reasonable fees.

Both houses are all located in the North Valley within 1-5 miles of the 101. One is on 35Ave and the other on 49Ave.

I, like many of you use a Go Pro and find that the battery is hard pressed to last a day and even with an extra batter, one goes dead during a session before you realize you should have changed it.

Inde Qualifying Race Sunday 5-5

Chasing Kent around on Sunday's qualifying race. With about 200 less horsepower have to be fast in the corners...(although I think I weigh about 600lbs less so that helps some.)

Fun times. Best lap of the weekend for me came in this race 1:39.1. Helped to have someone to chase.

This video was shot May 4, 2013 from my '95 track/street Miata during HPDE-4 Session-2, and it covers 15-min of that session. My fastest five timed laps in this session with my basically stock-engine Miata were in the upper 1:59s with one lap at 1:59 flat. I have not run this particular track configuration at Inde before so I don't really have a feeling about where those numbers rank in relation to other cars of similar power/weight ratios. With after-market "street" intake and exhaust systems I am guessing my car is making about 135-140 bhp at the crank (probably somewhere around 115 or so at the rear wheels) -- the OE bhp reported by Mazda for the '95 Miata is 127 -- and my Miata weighs an actual 2450 lbs with fluids and safety equipment as it runs on on the track.

The white Acura was slightly damaged in the one-car incident shown later in the video but the driver was not injured and I believe the car was actually back on the track for the later Saturday sessions.

The NASA AZ iRacing League

Well, I just made a league so we can have a spot to race together. Nothing is set in stone yet and we can set up dates and tracks and races etc.

I was tired of not being able to get matched up in races with friends so I just went ahead and footed the 10 bucks to buy a league for 1 year.

I'll keep this first post updated, will work on filling in the info later. To join, just post up here and apply to the league, it is simply named NASA AZ.

Schedule:
There will be THREE Practice races that do not count for anything, after this, Sundays and Wednesdays are league nights, excluding NASA track weekends.
Practices will be May 8th, May 12th and May 18th.
Practice starts at 6:30 and goes until 7:50.
7:50 to 8:00 is a 10 minute UMS Time Attack Style qualifier. One warm up lap, two hot laps, fastest counts.
8:00 to 8:30 is the race. These will probably be between 10 to 15 laps.

Official season starts on May 18th.

Update: Had some other people join up, so I'll have a participant list at the bottom of this post.

For Sale - E36 GTS3 Car - align and GO

I am embarking on a new project literally as I have just finished up this car. All it needs is an alignment and corner balance and go run it. I do this with truly with a tear in my eye, but decisions have to get made sometimes. Car was run in PAS and was going to run in NASA this year but things change. Car was built by Leroy at Flatout. Car is pretty and fast. With my so so driving I have run 1:04's at East. I've never fully dialed it in. I got 1 qualifier in at east before I bent a valve with the S50 and aero that still wasn't right. All has been rebuilt since that point. I know it has substantially more in it with the right driver. Car will come with a trailer as well. Ready to run package - pull your truck up and take it to the track. Car needs literally NOTHING. Painted Sublime green with blue and silver highlights. I will get pics up tonight. Leroy, Matt M., and a number of other people know this car pretty well. Just tech'd by Kent at Precision Chassisworks with a NASA logbook.

I have 8 Toyo RA1 205/50-15 that are free to a good home. These are used but not corded. Would be good for someone that just needs some tires to burn up or something just a bit grippier than street tires. These would be prefect for Miata or Honda guys that just don't have the money for some brand new tires but don't want to run street tires. First come first served. Take as many or as few as you want. Reminder of what NOT to do when you see a yellow flag

Or a black flag, or even a red flag. You do NOT just stand on the brakes, there are people behind you, and even if they see you, their brakes may not be as good as yours. The Legends driver saw the yellow, and backed off. The Vette driver didn't see it until later, and probably had the "no passing under yellow" fear of God put in him, and the Miata driver arguably wasn't looking far enough ahead either. Still no excuse to drop anchor liket that.

Let's review some of the NASA flagging rules:

Notice this does not say "stand on the brakes".

Neither does this. It even specifically says not to slow down much.

Even in this case, it doesn't say "stand on the brakes in the middle of a 100-mph corner". Drivers encountering a red flag should be aware of their surroundings as they slow the car to a stop as soon as possible without causing a pileup behind them.

FS: baffled catch can

Bought this last summer for use on my race car and never got around to installing it. Ended up getting an Endyn catch can in a trade so I no longer have a use for this one.

* It has two, -10AN input fittings, and one -10AN drainback fitting
* 2 internal baffles between the input fittings and the filter up top to separate the oil from the vapor
* high polish finish

Approximate dimensions for the square portion of the tank are 6" tall x 4" wide x 2 deep"
For overall dimensions, add about an inch on the bottom for the drainback fitting, add about 3" to the top for the filter, and add about 1" to the depth for the input fittings.

$90 picked up in Scottsdale or $100 shipped anywhere in the USA
